Animayo Festival 2020
attended by Arena Students

The 15^th edition of the International Summit Animayo was held from May 15^th to 17^th on a 100% virtual platform. It is the first and only Spanish animation festival designated as an Oscar qualifying event by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The winners will be eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category of the Academy Awards without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

The event is an encounter with 3D, audio-visual environments, visual effects, video games, animation and virtual reality aimed at promoting creative development, in which international artists and creators transmit their knowledge through masterclasses.

The event was attended by Arena students and staff across India.

First Look: Unreal Engine 5 moving
towards high-end photorealism

Epic Games has announced a first look at Unreal Engine 5. One of Epicb s goals in this next generation is to achieve photorealism on par with movie CG and real life and put it within practical reach of development teams of all sizes through highly productive tools and content libraries.

The reveal was introduced with Lumen in the Land of Nanite, a real-time demo running live on PlayStation 5, showcasing Unreal Engine technologies that will free creators to reach the highest level of real-time rendering detail in the next generation of games.

The demo previews two of the new core technologies, Nanite micro polygon geometry & Lumen fully dynamic global illumination solution, that will debut in 2021 in Unreal Engine 5.

Fundamental VR offering Free Ventilator Course for Health Professionals

Wallace & Gromit join the
AR World with b The Big Fix Upb

For the first time ever, Wallace and Gromit will bring fans directly into their adventures via b The Big Fix Upb , a first of its kind, story-driven experience that promises to bring the iconic characters together with state-of-the-art augmented reality technology.

Partnering with multi award-winning animation studio Aardman, Fictioneers, a consortium of British companies, including Potato, Sugar Creative and Tiny Rebel Games, with research support from the University of South Wales, is producing an exciting augmented and mixed reality experience featuring Wallace & Gromit and backed by funding from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).

Wallace & Gromit: b The Big Fix Upb , will bring Wallace & Gromit alive in an entirely new way, while creating a cutting-edge new platform for storytelling. Rendered in CG using the latest technology, the experience will let fans interact with and get closer than ever to the comedic duo. The experience will be rich and multi-layered, realized through innovative new AR technology.

Parent-Teacher Meet

We conducted multiple parent-teacher meets to increase parental awareness regarding e-learning studies and technological benefits in the academic progress of students in this perilous time of Covid-19. During these conferences, new initiatives by Arena Animation were discussed with all the parents. Student Competitions, Industry Expert Webinars and the two-day International Animation Virtual Event - Animayo, Spain, were discussed with the parents. Student projects on Creosouls were showcased to the parents. A total of 350 parents attended these conferences. They also appreciated the efforts of the academy and the trainers.

Animayo Masterclasses

The masterclass on 16^th & 17^th May, 2020 covered topics like Animation,VFX, Gaming, AR & VR by experts from Disney, Sony Imageworks and MPC. A total of 100 students got to learn from the professionals who shared their experience of working for blockbuster Bollywood films and games.

Design Reality Contest

On 21^st & 22^nd May, a total of 175 students were divided into teams and were given tasks as they would be doing a real-time scenario. About 45 teams were a part of this contest. The students learned how to work as a team and meet a given deadline.

STUDY TOUR FROM NIMS COLLEGE TO ARENA ANIMATION

2D Animation Masterclass

On 19^th May, 100 of our students were taught the technique of line stop motion, pixilation and cell animation, which can be used to make animation with the use of very basic things available at home. home

Storyboard Masterclass

On 27^th May, 70 of our students attended a masterclass to understand the different elements ofnstoryboards and how to interpret the script.

Unreal Masterclass

On 29th May, we conducted a masterclass for the Unreal Engine - the most powerful real-time 3D creation platform. 70 of our students were given an overview of the capabilities of Unreal and its applications. It was insightful for students who got to see a new technology in the 3D creation space.
