Project Description:

This poster is for the 2019 sci-fi film Ad Astra with Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones. The visual concept is inspired from a single shot in the trailer seen at 1:58 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6AaSMfXHbA . The 3D scene was designed in Maya and rendered using Octane in Cinema 4D. Text was added using Photoshop.

Thought Process:

I love the sci-fi genre of film and thought Ad Astra would be a great choice for aesthetic yet minimal sci-fi scenes. I wanted to create something new but based on something in the movie, so as to keep the poster relevant. Since it had to be a minimal poster I decided to visualise and expand on the shot seen at 1:58 in the trailer. I wanted to keep a duo-tone colour palette so as to keep to the minimal theme.
