Shubho Noboborsho, also known as Pohela Boishakh, is the traditional Bengali New Year celebrated predominantly in the Bengali-speaking regions of South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh and the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam. This vibrant festival is marked by various cultural activities, including colorful processions, traditional music and dance performances, elaborate feasts, and fairs. People clean and decorate their houses, wear new clothes, and exchange sweets and gifts with friends and family.
