|
|
The Oscars 2020 Short Film (Animated) nominations have been announced! Five films are now competing to take
home the most prestigious award in film, the Oscar, with the winner revealed on Sunday, February 9th, 2020. The
nominees for Short Film (Animated) are: DCERA (DAUGHTER), HAIR LOVE, KITBULL, MEMORABLE and SISTER.
A record 92 animated shorts qualified for Oscar consideration this season, and it’s an eclectic group of nominees
and family and friendship. There are three stop-motion works (Daughter, Memorable and Sister), and two that are
2D (Hair Love and Kitbull).

92nd Oscar Awards: Best Visual Effects Nominees

|
|
|
The Oscars 2020 Visual Effects nominations have been announced! Five films are now competing to take home the
most prestigious award in film, the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. The nominees for Visual Effects are: AVENGERS:
ENDGAME, THE IRISHMAN, THE LION KING, 1917, and STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. THE IRISHMAN and
1917 are two of the leading films this year with a total of 10 nominations each.

The five nominees for the visual-effects Oscar fooled us into thinking imagined places existed, that actors were
decades older or younger, and dearly departed performers could return to finish a beloved sci-fi saga

A MASTERCLASS ON MASTERSTROKES
|
|
On 13th January 2020, Regional Academic Head for Nashik, Mr. Swapnil Gaikwad took 15 students
pursuing Trinity 3D at our centre through a workshop, focusing on how to make sketches and draw
gestures. It proved to be an enlightening session for the students as they brushed up on their technical
and aesthetical skills.

REELING IN THE CREATIVITY

On 14th January 2020, Mr. Swapnil Gaikwad, our Regional Academic Head took a technical session on
the importance of showreels in displaying work, Arena's Onlinevarsity, and Arena's online portal that
showcases student creativity - Creosouls. 85 eager students attended this session.

|
TALKING SCOPE, EXPLAINING SCALE
|
|
On 24th January 2020, 65 teachers at Thakur College in Kandivali attended a seminar on the scope and
scale of Animation and VFX. Mr. Swapnil Gaikwad, our Regional Academic Head who hosted the seminar,
stated that it was a great platform to spread awareness regarding the industry and the abundance of
opportunities for students who pursued a career in the same.

WHERE CREATIVE MINDS CLASH CREATIVELY
|
|
|
On 23rd January 2020, more than 400 Arena students attended the Creative Minds event in Bengaluru.
Creative Minds is our annual multi-city student competition that sees them going head-to-head
showcasing their practical work in cover design, comic page, 3D architecture and much more. The event
saw experts from the field of Media & Entertainment taking insightful educational sessions, judging the
entries and giving invaluable feedback, with the winners receiving trophies and certificates for their
groundbreaking work.

A CAREER IN MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT THE DOS AND DON'TS

On 3rd January 2020, Mr. S. Suresh Kumar conducted a seminar for 1000 students at Gitam University.
It covered the various jobs and specialisations in the Media & Entertainment industry.

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF OUR NEW ARENA ANIMATION CENTRE

To mark the first anniversary of our most recently opened Arena Animation centre, we organised a fun event
where students showcased their work, with their parents in the audience. Mr. S. Suresh Kumar, our Technical
Academic Head, took the opportunity to appreciate the showcase of talent and creativity put up by the
centre students.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CAREER IN MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT
|
|
|
|
Our centre in Doddaballapur organised a session on Media & Entertainment careers for students at
Government College, Doddaballapur. Mr. S. Suresh Kumar, our Technical Academic Head, spoke to the
120 students in attendance.

HOW TO MAKE IT BIG IN THE MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
|
|
|
|
200 students pursuing both BCA and MCA at Reva University in Bengaluru, attended a seminar on
careers in the Media & Entertainment industry, conducted by Mr. S. Suresh Kumar.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Mr. Tejas Porecha, Regional Academic Head for our East Zone, conducted a seminar on 2D to 3D conversions.

ARENA ANIMATION WINS AT THE
CHAMBAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
|
|
|
|
Three of our students from Vadodara won awards for their work on projects submitted to the Chambal International Film Festival on 18th & 19th January 2020.
|
|
12 short films and 21 pieces of artwork submitted by our Vadodara centre represented India at the festival in Kota, Rajasthan, that showcased 398 short films received from all around the world.
|
|
The winning students are:
• Bhavya Parmar for Best Graphic Design
• Bhavesh Solanki for Best 3D Product Design
• Nupur Patel for Best Character Design
|
|
The students and the centre received acclaim and praise from the Art and Animation community of Vadodara, acknowledging them for making the city proud on an international level.

Arena Animation participated in the 2020 edition of Education Fair, conducted at Maharaja Sayajirao
University in Vadodara. 500 eager students experienced the marvels of live VFX, gaming VR and tattoo
art at our stall, and also attended a full house seminar in the auditorium, curated by Mr. Amar Trivedi,
our Regional Academic Head. Mr. Trivedi discussed insights related to VFX and encouraged students to
visit their nearest Arena Animation centre through a glimpse at the life and learning available there.

|
Trinity 3D students spent time learning with Mr. Amar Rathod. He evaluated their current work, and took
them through a small training session on camera tracking and match move techniques used in the
industry. He also imparted useful tips on how to improve work quality and deal with challenges, while
on the job.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
We organised a series of workshops as part of knowledge enhancing activities at Parul University, rated
amongst Gujarat's biggest campuses. These workshops, conducted by Mr. Amar Trivedi - our Regional
Academic Head, covered the technology and trends seen in VFX and Animation with 400 students
hailing from different fields in attendance. The students learned how to pursue a career in the field and
experienced the potential of VFX through a practical demonstration by Mr. Trivedi.

AN INDUSTRY FULL OF UNTAPPED OPPORTUNITIES
|
|
|
|
Mr. Puneet Sharma, our Technical Advisor at Arena Animation and industry expert, took a seminar for
300 students at Parul University explaining the scale of the Media & Entertainment industry, and the
opportunities available to them. He imparted invaluable insights related to the various platforms and
applications in the industry, and also explained how they could pursue a career in the same.

EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO CREATE
|
|
|
|
To commemorate the 71st Republic Day of India, our centres conducted customer engagement activities
on 25th January 2020. Guests visiting the centres received an insight into the life and curriculum at the
centre, broadening their perspectives on the opportunities available for students in the Media &
Entertainment industry.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Our sales team comprising of 35 members participated in an industrial/studio visit. 19 members visited
Maya Digital Studios on 15th January 2020, and 16 members visited Trace VFX on 18th, January 2020. At the
time spent there, the visiting team members got insights into how a production unit operated and
interacted with professionals, which would help them improve presentations at their counselling desks,
conversions and sales.
